History of Kg. Baru (from the past to present day)
Roughly 50 years ago Kg.Baru Kuala Lumpur was totally different from what it is today. The place seemed so remote and the mode of public transportation available was by bus (1950's technology). Taxis were for the rich even than it was not many. It had a village like surrounding and atmosphere where most of the inhabitants lived in wooden self made houses with their own wells as their water source. The roads were narrow and not well tarred compared to what we see today. Drainage system were horrendous / bad and when it rained, some of the lowland areas were flooded quite easily and this happened regularly. Aid to help the flood victims were minimal. Sewerage system was in a deplorable state. Street lightings and telecommunication system were at their infancy level. The whole area was actually gazetted as an agricultural land where the people mend to their own land for a living. There were plots of paddy fields and coconut plantations which set a beautiful sceneries in the kampong/village, were the memories of the past, which were missed by the local people and now these were gone and it will remained in the memories of the people as part of "the good old days" ...............to be continued........
HAVE A PLEASANT SLUMBER
